Youth
Council Members
The Youth Council's vision states that in order to address the youth issue and to reengage students who are dropping out and have dropped out of school, the Youth Council will create an effective network of alternate educational opportunities. The purpose of this network is to expeditiously match young people, who are both in and out-of-school, with appropriate and responsive learning options that:
The Youth Council is established as a sub-committee of the Workforce Investment
Board. They develop comprehensive and integrated strategies to help in-school
and out-of-school youth prepare for successful entry into the workforce.
The Youth Council is appointed by the local board in cooperation with the
Mayor and includes the HCWIB; youth service agencies; public housing authorities;
parents of eligible youth; former participants and representatives of organizations
with experience in youth activities.
